I remember Sterling as an extremely smart student with a quirky sense of humor. Along with others, we shared many good times in JCL and other activities at Haverford. In 2017 we reconnected on Facebook, and it was evident he still had that sense of humor! His death came as quite a shock. May he rest in peace even as he lives on in our memories.
Sterling was an extraordinarily gifted and unique individual. His encyclopediac mind left us in awe. His keen observations and exceptional writing skills stood out. He was a friend to many of us since our first days at Manoa School and will certainly be missed.
The following note was submitted by Bill King on behalf of Walter and Joanna Reale Johnston. There was a technical issue making it difficult for Walt and Joanna to post it themselves.
One of Sterling's unique interests was his college decal collection. He visited us in upstate New York every few years, on his tour of northern classmates, and we helped him find some rare decals. I bet he was the only one with SUNY Institute of Technology and Cazenovia College. Our kids thought he was odd and they loved his speaking voice, which I will not try to describe. He had a sweet tooth and always brought chocolates. Sterling was one of a kind, we will miss him.

Very sorry to hear of Sterling’s passing. Knew him elementary school through high school. Always enjoyed chatting with him.
